Betans Iloilo get together in Iloilo at Tita Anne Resto. With the insistence of brod Panoy who made this event possible, BETANS from San AG, WIT, WVCST met at Tita Anne Resto for a dinner last friday. Almost all resident members from these schools attended this event together with more than ten alumni members from CPU and nine current and former FS. We all enjoyed the dinner and the endlessly flowing drinks served by tita anne courtesy of course by brod panoy.

What brod abay wants to highlight in this posting is not the free food and drinks served to the resident members but the rare oppurtunity for us alumni to spend quality time with the resident members in these schools plus the fact that all the alumni present gave inpirational messages(abay, asyong, pastor, elan, dan j, fabian, brod jaruda, elson p...did i forget someone). Also we had the opportunity to emphasize again the two very tangible projects of BETANS Intl...SCHOLARSHIP and BETANS HOUSE.

We strongly emphasize that these projects are implemented for the sake of our resident members to assist them in realizing their dreams of becoming  fulfilled engineers someday. This privellege is courtesy of our brods abroad who want to share their blessings to young brods. As a result of these interactions there was a suggestion on  how to sustain and improve the implementation of these projects particularly the betans house. Since we have the problem of paying the rental of the house because of lack of boarders, late payment of rent by resident member etc, IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT ALL REGIONAL CHAPTERS (7 CHAPTERS) SHALL SPONSOR TWO BOARDERS' MONTHLY RENT OF P600/mo.each. Thus a total of P8,400/mo. The balance will be assumed by the iloilo alumni members. At present the West Coast chapter is the only chapter diligently paying its monthly pledge of P2000/mo for the house rental. Also the local alumni Narsing, Nang Au and Asyong pay P500/mo.

The idea of sponsorship is encouraging because even resident members as far as San Ag or UI can stay in the betans house because its free board so they just have to spend for their fare. This way we can keep the house which i believe had become the center of our communication, social venue of betans activities as well as the focal place of directory whenever alumni want to look for fellow alumni.
